Overview:
Here, we investigated changes in moisture content of the Stratum Corneum (SC) and Stratum Disjunctum (SD), and changes below the SC/SD following topical application of a serum, referred to as 3D3P-IPN.
Two non-invasive techniques were employed, surface conductivity, and Confocal Raman Spectroscopy, to determine molecular concentration of water within and below SC/SD. Spectral measurements revealed an increase in water gradient within and below SC/SD as function of concentration as well as increased thickness of the SC/SD.
The formulation employs a novel combination of HA, ceramides, glycerol, alky-modified gums and crosslinked polysaccharides. We have found this system improves overall barrier function, dermal thickness, moisture content and lipid ordering, providing lasting relief from xerosis and skin dryness.
