11 April 2018 On April 26th the Personal Care Products Council (PCPC), located in Washington, DC, hosted the first event of 2018 for the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the Society of Cosmetics Chemists (MASCC). The guest speaker was Lisa Powers, Executive Vice President June 2018 On June 28th the MASCC hosted a “Fragrance Overview Event.” The event was held at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens in Norfolk, Va. The Fragrance Overview Event featured three phenomenal speakers who discussed the science behind, the marketing and future of fragrances. The event presenters included: • Steve Herman, President of Diffusion, LLC, presented Fragrance 101. • Andy O'Shea, Senior Vice President at Berje Inc. and Tom Lauzurica, Marketing Manager at Berje Inc. presented, The Future Forecast of Fragrances. • Dr. Robert Coots, R&D Manager at Colonial Chemical presented Fragrance Solubilization. The Fragrance Overview event was well attended. After the presentations attendees were able to explore the Norfolk Botanical Gardens. Mid-Atlantic of Public Affairs & Communication for the Personal Care Products Council. Lisa addressed the group with an engaging presentation on “Communicating Science in a Challenging New World.” Lisa discussed challenges the industry faces with messaging and the importance of advocating. More than 25 attendees from the Mid-Atlantic region attended the event.
12 August 2018 On August 9th the MASCC hosted a free Virtual Event “Emerging Trends in Personal Care.” The event presenters included: • Arnoldo Fonesca, Marketing Manager at Evonik Industries presented The Creation and Importance of Halal Formulations. • Chris Johnson, Managing Director at Kinetic Tech presented The Future of Preservatives. • Erin Turner, Cosmetic Marketing Manage at BASF and Betty Aucar, Technical Account Manager at BASF presented Color Trends. The virtual event was a big success. Many attendees viewed the webinar with fellow colleagues.
