30 Ontario We are so pleased to have had record membership for 2018! A big “thank you” goes out to our committed and new members. The year started out on a high note with a talk from Perry Romanowski on “Becoming a Cosmetic Chemist” which was held at Seneca College and aimed toward students of their Cosmetic Science program. Late winter, we held a regulatory day which was offered free to members. The program included ‘Prop 65 updates’ from Gayle Fortin, ‘Canadian regulation updates’ from Teena Warrin and ‘global regulatory updates’ from David Saucier. Our regular evening meetings were all well enjoyed. We had an inspiring talk from Lauren Goodsitt of Mintel presenting ‘global cosmetics trends’. We were also pleased to offer expert information from our own Shahin Kalantari on Organic Cosmetics! Not to mention, Neil Kochar’s presentation, representative from the National Research Council of Canada, on innovation assistance available for Canadian small and medium sized enterprises. Our annual golf tournament was held once again at the beautiful Caledon Woods Golf Club in July. It was a great day for our members to get outside for the day and enjoy some leisure time together. A delicious buffet dinner followed the tournament along with awards and prizes. Education Day was a “Lipid Academy” course taught by Benjamin Schwartz, which was also offered free to members. For this talk, Ben was the recipient of the 2018 SCC Ontario Chapter Speaker Award! The year ended with our annual holiday dinner dance which was held at The Venetian Banquet Hall. It was another sold out event that was fun filled right until the end! Matt Dean entertained us with music and singing and we had an exotic Latin dance show by Latin Energy. We had a record success with our annual toy drive for toy mountain which supports Family Services Food Banks and 9 Shelters throughout Toronto and the Durham, York and Peel regions!
