18 NYSCC SUPPLIERS’ DAY 2021 @ NYC JAVITS CONVENTION CENTER. The location continues to prove successful for this brand. Once again led by ECMA Show Management: Jane McDermott, Erin Layton, Annie Scully, Liz Tracey and Team, with key support from the NYSCC Committee, including: Susanna Fernandes, Giorgino Macalino, Giorgio Dell’Acqua, Mohamed Abdulla, Leor Fay Tal, Maria Sousa, and Cathy Piterski to name a few. Highlights of Suppliers’ Day and the “Week of Beauty” included: A ribbon cutting ceremony highlighting NYC agencies that assisted in our ability to “come to life.” 392 exhibitors on the show floor. 6,807 registrants representing 30 countries. A show floor occupying 73,825 net square feet of contiguous space allowed participants to safely gather and engage with customers. AWARDS/EDUCATION NIGHT on Day 1 - the show’s opening reception and a highlight for the Week of Beauty the event attracted 4 sponsors and 293 in attendance. The program featured the CEW BEAUTY CREATOR AWARDS Supplier Category Winner: Grant Industries Susanna Fernandes was a CEW AMBASSADOR for 2021 thus catapulting NYSCC and ingredients front and center. Education on the show floor included: Future Chemists Workshop, Discover Sustainability, Clean & Natural Beauty, IBA Regulatory & Compliance Update, and the World of Chemistry. Programs in adjacent meeting rooms included: SCC CEP Courses on the pre-day Peclers Paris Back to Powerful Beauty Digital Age of Beauty Fragrance: The Invisible Art INDIE 360. In addition to the PRESENTATION THEATER on the show floor with sessions on trends, microbiome, and more, the exhibit floor included an INDIE Pavilion, UNIVERSITY ROW, as well as a SCC MEMBERSHIP BOOTH for all chapters’ participation. A membership breakfast/drive also took place: members were invited to attend “and bring a non-member” guest to learn about all that is offered through SCC Membership. To build excitement and engagement, a registration raffle and member renewal drive with the IFSCC 2022 Congress in the Fall as the prize for select lucky winners took place at Suppliers’ Day. An Exhibitor Advisory Committee was formed to help the management team navigate a very difficult environment and allowed them to hear and react to those in the “trenches” on the exhibit floor this committee will continue through 2022 and beyond. This scholarship is focused on providing financial assistance to ensure students have access to quality education that will eventually lead to a successful career in cosmetic science. --The Roumelia Alina Inclusion and Diversity Scholarship, a value-based scholarship awarded to applicants who exemplify hard work, perseverance, compassion, and collaboration in the advancement of inclusion and diversity initiatives. In honor of our past chapter secretary, Roumelia Alina, this scholarship recognizes the virtues that Roumelia Alina displayed as a member of the cosmetic industry, her professional journey, and her contributions to the society. --Grants for Educational Institutions are awarded to those applicants who display their strategic initiatives that advance the promotion of cosmetic science and increase accessibility to knowledge for the continued enrichment of the cosmetic industry.

NEW & EXPANDED PROGRAMS: …The NYSCC Podcast: “The Science Behind the Art” brings all levels of expertise together to learn more about what cosmetic science is, how to make a career out of it, and tips and tricks from the best in the field. This is a space where all career types come together and demonstrate their passion for all things beauty! Key milestones included: 15 episodes for a total of 426 minutes of content Over 21 countries were reached with over 2500 plays Conversations with scientists, marketers, sun care experts, fragrance creators, hair lovers, technology-driven individuals, world travelers, but most importantly, individuals who share a passion for cosmetic science. Boosting our educational program and member communications, the Scientific Advisory Committee (chaired by Hani Fares), produced industry blogs many of which complemented monthly programming. 8 blogs were crafted generating 15,894 visits to the blog posts fueled by the “blog” newsletter, Cosmetiscope and more.
