Looking back on 2021, our goal was to bring new, innovative topics and keeping our members engaged- we didn’t disappoint. OVSCC looks forward to 2022, continuing educating our members, build networks, and grow the industry of cosmetic chemistry. 75th Annual Scientific Meeting & Showcase: The Society’s first ever HYBRID conference. SCC members and other cosmetic science industry stakeholders traveled to NYC to show their support for the Society's first in-person conference since 2019. This event was arguably one of the most important annual meetings for the Society as it affirmed, with confidence, that the SCC has the capacity to host events with health and safety protocols at the forefront. The Society planned for a much smaller meeting than in typical years. Anticipating 500 total attendees for the hybrid meeting, we had 483 registrations in total with nearly 400 attendees on-site. We were delighted to see such significant support from companies who sent groups to this year's event. Over 180 unique companies were in attendance at the Sheraton New York Times Square, and 44 exhibitors showcased their latest innovations to solve industry wide issues. Most noteworthy are the number of international participants from 10+ countries (including France, Germany, Spain, and Sweden), who were able to attend the event despite numerous corporate and governmental travel restrictions. And while the current climate did not allow all of the SCC75 registrants to travel to NYC, there was an opportunity to participate virtually. The 2021 Annual Meeting was the first SCC national conference to offer a hybrid attendance option, with 66 participating in real-time. All Full Access Registrants, as well as Live Stream Access Registrants were able to watch the presentations in real-time, online. And for those with time zone challenges, on-demand recordings were made available within 24 hours.
