19 This past year contained many amazing speakers, a great Educational Seminar, a fulfilled Golf Outing, and much more. In January, the year started with a great presentation by Val Cosh from Konica Minolta on Color in Cosmetic Science. He explained how color is evaluated, controlled, and observed in the research and manufacturing world. He also brought color measuring equipment for a hands- on look at the color measuring world. Our second presentation in March moved to the subject of Fragrance. Andy O’Shea and Tom Lauzurica of Berje did an amazing job covering different fragrance ingredients, trends, and forecasts for the upcoming years. They also passed around many different fragrance examples where we could experience each ingredient blend ourselves. In May we had another successful year for Supplier’s Day at the Javits Center in NYC where all of the professions of the Cosmetic Industry come together to collaborate and share knowledge with each other. June brought to us our Seventh Annual Golf Outing. Even though we broke our lucky streak of good weather, all the golfers headed out onto the misty golf course for a fun and successful day. In September Belen Lemieux of Koster Keunen presented New England Beeswax: The Bee’s Knees. She proved why beeswax is an essential raw material to cosmetic formulation. It can offer a natural and fascinating story to any application. Our Ed Seminar was held in October at Assumption College in Worcester Ma where we covered all aspects of Scale Up and Processing of Cosmetic Formulations. Our Instructor David Yacko, who has been in the cosmetic industry for 40 years, demonstrated his vast knowledge of the subject and spoke about how to resolve many common issues that evolve during scale up. Our last presentation of the year was in November covering the Growth of Flexible Packaging in Cosmetics. Tom Carroll from Industrial Packaging showed us many different types of flexible packaging and how they can be applied to varying cosmetic formulations. We also had the pleasure of having Mindy Goldstein PhD, the Vice President of National SCC, to install our 2020 Officers. Our new officers for 2020 will be Kaylee Miller (Chair), Joy Welsh (Chair-elect), Kathy Rainone (Secretary), and Beth McGowan (Treasurer). Our 2020 NESCC board members have another great year planned ahead, and we hope to see everyone next year! Please contact us if there are suggestions for specific subject matter to be presented next year. We love to get feedback and requests from our members. A big thank you to all of the speakers and volunteers of 2019 for making it a great year! Emily Nichols 2019 NESCC Chapter Chair
