22 The 2019 Maison G. de Navarre Award, the Society’s highest honor, was presented to Anthony Rawlings, PhD (Director at AVR Consulting) by 2019 SCC President, Kelly Dobos. Dr. Rawlings has over 35 years of experience in R&D, including 30 years of research in skin biology, and has authored/co-authored more than 200 technical papers, book chapters and abstracts. He also holds more than 50 patents in the areas of skin and food science and has been honored by numerous industry organizations throughout his career. We are honored to present him with this award and look forward to all of his continued contributions to the industry! The 2019 Merit Award was presented to Anthony ‘Tony’ O’Lenick (Siltech). Our policy manual describes the award as recognizing a member of the Society for distinguished contributions, achievements and service to the Society on a National Level. Tony’s name is synonymous with volunteerism, distinguished leadership, and outstanding service to the cosmetics and personal care industry. We are delighted to honor Tony this year with the Merit Award. During his 40-year membership, he has been a tireless champion of the SCC and its mission to advance cosmetic science. The inaugural Florence Wall Women in Cosmetic Chemistry Award, sponsored by Rodan + Fields, was presented to Zoe Diana Draelos, MD (Dermatology Consulting Services, PLLC) by 2019 SCC President, Kelly Dobos. Dr. Draelos is recognized as a pioneer in cosmetic dermatology, having written the first medical book on the topic in 1991, Cosmetics in Dermatology. She is a well-respected, inspirational leader in the personal care industry and a distinguished contributor to the fields of both cosmetic science and dermatology. She has authored 14 books, contributed chapters to 38 textbooks, written 78 posters and 541 published papers, served as principal investigator on 621 studies, delivered 350+ oral presentations, and served on or contributed to 38 editorial boards. Dr. Draelos is a past member of the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and has been honored by numerous industry organizations for her contributions to dermatology and for her research contributions to advance the specialty. This award recognizes an outstanding lecturer of the 72nd Annual Scientific Meeting specifically selected by the COSA Committee. The 2019 Green Star Award, sponsored by Colonial Chemical, was presented for the second time to Cynthia Johnson (C-Care, LLC) for her Strawberry Cream Cleanser with Blue Light Protection. The Award recognizes the formulator who has done outstanding work in green formulations during the previous 12-month period.
