29 The year started off with a bang in March at Christian Moerlein Lager House, featuring speaker Durant Scholz (Active Concepts LLC) on Natural Antimicrobials and the Beauty Microbiome: Functional Applications of the Skin Microflorae in Cosmetics. Guests were able to discuss a relevant topic in the industry and enjoy views of the Ohio River at one of Cincinnati’s most famous German breweries. In May, a full-day CEP course was offered to the members, which featured Wen Schroder (SEKI Cosmeticals LLC) on Sustainable Cosmetic Product Development at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens. Guests were able to learn and discuss more sustainable ways to formulate cosmetics. The venue, reputable in their sustainability efforts, was the perfect setting for guests to learn and discuss more sustainable ways to formulate cosmetics. They were also given time to explore some of the zoo and their animals, including the world-famous hippopotamus, Fiona! Ohio Valley The Ohio Valley Chapter had a very fruitful (and busy!) year. Our Executive Board was very engaged and passionate about delivering fun, educational events for our members. The introduction of the Event Planning Committee and Public Relations Committee were also a way to get Cosmetic Science student members more engaged and divide ongoing key tasks amongst the Board.
