4 Long Island Chapter wins the SCC Chapter Retention Contest Every year the Society challenges its 19 chapters to a friendly competition – which chapter can get 85% or more of their members to renew by December 31st? Looks like the Long Island Chapter has claimed this FIRST PLACE. All winning chapters will receive a $1,000 bonus toward their rebate amount in the coming weeks. Any chapter who retains 85% of their members during dues renewal will receive an additional $1,000 toward their rebate – which can be used to secure speakers, venues, offset costs for events, products, etc. Any chapter who retains over 90% get to choose a free CEP course or a free Annual Meeting registration in addition to the $1,000. 5 California What a great year 2019 was for the sunny California chapter of the SCC. As this was an odd year, we had the MOST SUCCESSFUL Supplier’s Day EVER!! We are so grateful to the power duo Angie Inouye and Maria Reighard who spear headed Supplier’s Day and the After Party respectively. This year, 372 exhibitors traveled West and were greeted by over 4,000 attendees. The event began with a CEP course offered on Tuesday and then spanned the next 2 days with talks and hustle of traveling the show and rocking away the night at our sponsored After Party. Thanks to the success of this event we are planning to bring more educational events in 2020 and beyond. Supplier’s Day After Party Throughout the year, we had on average 8 monthly meetings. At each meeting we brought in 2 speakers to enlighten our members and guests on updates in our personal care arena. The CaliSCC board strives to bring interesting talks with current relevance and ideas on the future. Our speaker of the year (2019) was Dr. Michael McAlpine from the University of Minnesota, Department of Mechanical Engineering. He spoke on, “3D Printing Functional Materials & Devices”. I am so grateful for the talent that come to the West Coast sharing knowledge at each meeting.
