33 Twin Cities 2020 was quite a year and we are very much excited for and looking forward to 2021! Our last in-person meeting of 2020 was a great success with Tony Abboud, General Manager of Personal Care & Beauty at Renmatix presenting the fascinating topic "Upcycled Ingredients: The Next Frontier in Developing Sustainable Personal Care Products." At the legendary Minneapolis restaurant Jax Cafe we explored and learned more about efforts turn low-value waste products into multi-functional, sustainable ingredients that are alternatives to traditional ingredients. And then March of 2020 came and with it a lot of changes! We successfully pivoted and hosted a successful webinar with Frances Trou from Imerys presenting "Minerals in Personal Care Products: Should we be concerned?" An interesting and relevant topic, this great webinar was free and was well attended. In April, we hosted our last webinar of 2020 with Dr. James Baumgartner, Ph.D., President of Panacea Life Sciences, presenting on "The Medical Power of Industrial Hemp: Separating Fact from Fiction." This on-trend presentation covered the industrial hemp plant and cannabidiol, preliminary research on cannabidiol, potential applications specific to skin health, and briefly addressed current regulations. Dr/ Baumgartner's knowledge of industrial hemp and CBD was enjoyed by all that attended. We thank all our presenters for their insightful and interesting presentations in 2020! The TCCSCC decided to take a little hiatus for the rest of 2020. 2020 was a year of unprecedented times and we look forward to a new year of renewed hope. We appreciate all our members' support of the Twin Cities Chapter of Society of Cosmetic Chemists. We are looking forward to revitalizing the chapter and events in 2021!
