With this object in view your Council had appointed Messrs. Middleton, Pitt and Pugh to the joint study committee. The exchange of representatives from the T.P.F. on the Sub-Committees dealing with methods of analysis and toxicological matters and of the Society on the T.P.F.'s standards study group have continued. ANNUAL DINNER AND DANCE The Annual Dinner and Dance was held on 4th February at the Europa Hotel. It was attended by about 228 members and guests. Mr. R. Demuth, President of the Toilet Preparations Federation, was the Guest of Honour. In his response to the President's toast of "our guests" he stressed the importance of co-operative and friendly relations between the T.P.F. and the Society on the well-being of the industry. THE FUTURE During the coming year your Council will be actively concerned with recruitment to the Society. It has been agreed that several of the Society's Rules need revision and this will also be given firm attention. The success of the Society depends on the scientific excellence of its members, on their loyalty to the Society and willingness to co-operate for the common good. We must make sure that this continues to be recognised by outside bodies, who will then be anxious to help us in any way that we ask.
