SOCIETY OF COSMETIC CHEMISTS OF GREAT BRITAIN ON OCTOBER l ST, the 2nd Annual Golf Competition of the Society-was held at Walton Heath, Surrey. The Firmenich Cups were won by M. F. Landon and R. J. R. Neill, and were presented to the winners by the Chairman, Dr. R. H. Marriott. The Antoine ß Chiris prize of Henry Cotton golf clubs was won by M. F. Landon, the prize being presented by R. H. Maclntyre. A Dinner and Social Evening is being arranged for Jan. 22, 1953 this like the Special Meeting, will be held in the St. Ermin's Hotel, Westminster. A Special Meeting was held on October 23rd to discuss the draft of the Constitution and Rules of the Society, which have been drawn up by the Rules Revision Subcom- mittee. One of the proposals is that Associate Members be incor- porated in the Society. At present, in draft form, the rule reads as follows: ./1SSOCI./1TE$ Associates shall be those persons who, in the opin- ion of the Council, are fit and proper persons but who are not eligible to become full members of the Society. They must satisfy the Council that they are twenty-one years of 321 age or over, that they earn their living in the cosmetic or allied industries in a technical capacity, and that they have either: (a) completed a recognized course of instruction with satisfactory attendance, or (b) gained a qualifying di- ploma issued by the So- ciety, or (c) acquired such alternative qualifications as are deemed satisfactory by the Council. These rules were adopted and are operative from Nov. 1, 1952. The new rules also change the titles of chairman and vice-chairman to president and vice-president. Increased publicity is being ob- tained by the kind co-operation of weekly and monthly journals, here, in U.S.A., France, and Germany, and the recent drive to increase the membership is already showing promise. Current membership is 100 home members and 12 overseas members. In combined meeting of the Officers, Executive Committee, and Committee Chairmen of the SOCIETY OF COSMETIC CHEMISTS in New York it was unanimously resolved to express appreciation and congratulations to the Society of Cosmetic Chemists of Great Britain for their untiring efforts resulting in an organization which has made so outstanding a con- tribution to the Science of this Industry. Particular appreciation is ex- tended to F. V. Wells who, after being appointed temporary Chair- man and later repeatedly elected to this office, so ably served the cause of science in this executive capacity. Appreciation and recognition is further expressed to all of the officers, directors, and members whose time and efforts have created the Society of Cosmetic Chemists of Great Britain and made it an outstanding organiza- tion in the field of science. It was further resolved to ex- tend the wish for continued success in the future to the most recently elected and appointed officers, directors, committeemen, and members of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists of Great Brit- ain.
