Rapp, Professor of Biochemistry and Physiology and Director of the Department of Research at Loyola University, gave a very interesting talk on "Chlorophyll in Cosmetic Products." On October 14th the following offricers fi•r 1953 were elected: Doug- las Atlas, Chairman Dr. Win. Col- burn, Chairman-Elect R. Appen- zeller, Secretary Dr. H. F. David- son, Treasurer. Irving D. Auspitz, Creative rector of Weiss and Geller, Inc., of Chicago addressed the group on tile topic "Can Cosmetic Chem- ists Catch Up with Advertising Claims ?" On November 11th Dr. Richard B. Bernstein, Associate Professor of Chemistry, l!linois Institute of Technology, spoke on the subject "Application of Infra-red Spectrom- etrv to Cosmetic Materials." The relationship between the French group and the British Society of Cosmetic Chemists is more close by gei•graphy as well as with the per- sonalities involved. To this extent, the new President of the Soci&• Francaise de Cosm•tologie, M. Ren• Colson, sent this message to the Society of Cosmetic Chemists of Great Britain on the occasion of the election of the new officers listed be- low. "I sincerely hope that our two related societies of Cosmetic Chem- ists will develop their fraternal and technical contacts on all possible occasions in the future."
