Dr. Schwartz was awarded the Medal of the SoctExY during its Annual Dinner Dance. Dr. Milton Harris acted as toastmaster for the presenta- tion. Dr. Alfred E. Brown was eulogist, and Mr. Lester Conrad, as President of the SOmETY, presented the medal with the following citation: DR. ANTHONY M. SCHWARTZ For your many contributions in the field of organic chemistry to the art and science of cosmetics including: Your pioneering role in the synthesis of a wide variety of cosmetic raw materials Your continuing efforts to purity and improve many compounds Your specific contributions to the development of safer para dyes and lipstick colors Your generous contributions to the scientific literature and especially your two classic volumes dealing with surface active agents and de- tergents we award to you this gold medal, our highest form of recognition for any scientist working in the cosmetic industry.
