376 JOURNAL OF THE SOCEITY OF COSMETIC CHEMISTS the wide range of evaluation processes, involving a great many disciplines, which must be employed by the cosmetic chemist. Complete evaluation is necessary not only to provide information on the functional performance of the end product use but also many other aspects of a product. It must cover safety, storage, and the maintenance of qualities which relate to psychological and emotional needs. The speaker also emphasized the importance of utilizing all these aspects of evaluation in the economic judgement of any project. A critical assess- ment at the right time during the development process could save much time and money in the elimination of projects which were 'losers from the start'. The evening finished with a vote of thanks to the lecturer by Mr D. F. Williams, Hon. Secretary of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists of Great Britain, and the presentation of the Silver Medal by the Society's President, Miss A. E. Young.
