Ivanovsky presented his paper, "Waxes and the Cosmetic Chemist," to the meeting of the Society at Mansion House, London. Mr. P. j. Fowler, Honorary Treasurer, has resigned and will take up resi- dence in the south of France. The Council passed a resolution thanking Mr. Fowler for his work as Treasurer. Mr. R. T. Dodson has consented to be- come Acting Honorary Treasurer and all communications concerning the financial side of the Society should be addressed to him at "Acarsaid, Dukes Wood Drive, Gerrards Cross, Bucks. As of January the British Society now has 210 full members and associate members. The Annual Dinner Dance of the British Society took place at the Care Royal, Regent Street, London, on January 28th. A scroll was presented to Mr. F. V. Wells, Second Honorary Member of the Society, in com- memoration of the conferment of Honorary Membership. Dr. R. H. Marriott, President of the Society, stated in his presentation that "the honor was well deserved as the original idea of having a British Society of Cosmetic Chemists had come from Mr. Wells." Sir Hugh Linstead, O.B.E., F.P.S., M.P., was the guest of honor and pro- posed a toast to "The Society" and the response was made by Mr. P. J. Fowler, Honorary Treasurer. Sir Hugh spoke of the growth in membership over the very few years of the existence of the Society and stated that he thought it wise to maintain and develop the Society in conjunction with the SOCIETY OF COSMETIC CHEMISTS of the United States. The Toast of "Our Guests" was proposed by the President, Dr. Marriott, and was responded to by Sir John Simonsen, D.Sc., F.R.I.C., F.R.S. The evening concluded with dancing 113 members and friends were present.
