138 JOURNAL OF THE SOCIETY OF COSMETIC CHEMISTS Society of Cosmetic Chemists Award Sponsored by Shaw Mudge & Co. The 1969 Society of Cosmetic Chemists Award sponsored by Shaw Mudge & Co. has been presented to the late Dr. John H. Beckley, Dr. Lionel F. Rubin of the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, and Dr. Thomas J. Russell, Jr., of Bio/dynamics Inc. for their paper "The Use of the Rhesus Monkey for Predicting Human Response to Eye Irritants," published in Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology, 15 (1969). Formal presentation of the award was made by the Society's President Mr. Charles Fox of the Warner Lambert Research Institute at the December 1st luncheon session during the Society's annual meeting at the Americana Hotel (New York City). The award, consisting of a scroll and a $1000 honorarium, is presented annually to the author or au- thors of the paper judged to be the most outstanding contribution to safety or safety testing in the use of toiletry and cosmetic products. . :, . .:• - ½ ".?½ .• -,. ,-•. •.' . .., • • • ß ½: • , ' . -..• .. • . . • :½ ..j-_ .. 5 ...- . . &• .. . : •,,•d ...... , . . ½• ................. :s: .......... . •. -.•-: . • ..•,-..-•C, '•:.• ½ ::: ...... . .......... ..... .. ::.2 2:' • ½•:"' 4¾' Le[t to right: Dr. Thomas J.
