BEHAVIOUR OF COSMETIC CREAMS, LOTIONS AND OILS ON THE SKIN cosmetic field. Only experimental physiological research on the living human skin can throw light on the problems arising out of the mechanism and effects of cosmetic preparations on the skin. This particular study on the spreading and creeping of fats and oils on the skin surface gives at least a partial answer to the question: "What happens to cosmetic creams, lotions and oils on the skin ?" They spread out over large areas in thin films which can hardly be seen or felt. This then creates the impression that the prepara- tions have disappeared into the skin.
