Generalizing, though, from the results of this work and other work that we have done, ! am convinced that for making this type of emulsion the best procedure is to pour the aqueous phase into the oil phase. ! have always liked that, although I know some textile authorities like the reverse method we also felt that the speed of stirring is probably a most important factor in the over-all emulsion formula.

THE AWARD Of a medal to an outstanding contributor to the art and science of cosmetics was announced in the trade press and by special notice to members in June, 1948. McDonough, Toastmaster for the evening, introduced Thomas Farrell, Chairman of the Medal Award Committee, who briefly reviewed the conditions leading to the award. The Toastmaster introduced Maison G. deNavarre who addressed the gathering on "Emil G. Klarmann, the Man." He was followed by Dr. Louis Schwartz who spoke on "Emil G. Klarmann, Man of Science."
