Mr. Protzen, Sr., who organized this first meeting of the year welcomed the 28 participants froIn ten different cities. Mr. F. Keil gave a talk with slides on the subject of "Microscopic Hair Examinations Under Normal and Inpolarized Light." He gave many practical hints and procedures for the making of microphotos of hair in polarized light which he collected and perfected during many years of re- search together with his co-worker, Mr. Patzwald. Mr. Neugebauer gave a short report on the preliminary activities of the specialized groups of dyes and raw materials the admissions of which are being promoted by Mr. Wilmsmann and Mr. Freytag. Interested members were again asked for their active support and suggestions by Mr. Otto Salzmann, who is the Board member in charge of this project. In conclusion Mr. Protzen, Jr., showed an excellent, personally made color film covering the production of oil of peppermint in the United States accompanied by interesting comments. The meeting of the International Societies of Cosmetic Chemists will be held in Munich from August 31st through September 3rd. Details will be found in the invitations which will soon be mailed.
