ACCEPTANCE OF THE AWARD BY DR. WALTER B. SHELLEY "Mr. President, members of the SOC•E,¾ and guests, it is a great pleasure to be here today to accept this award. I am deeply honored and thrilled. As all of you in research know, investigation is a cooperative endeavor. Our work on the sweat gland has been no exception, and I should like to pay tribute here to the team of investigators with whom I have been associated at the University of Pennsylvania. They include Doctors Harry J. Hurley, Jr., Milton M. Cahn, Edwin J. Levy, Eldon T. Perry, Peter N. Horvath, Kimio Ikai, Miss Anna C. Nichols and Miss Sondra Golomb. Without their untiring help, I certainly would not be here accepting this award from Mr. Kolar today. "There is another band of investigators to whom we in dermatological research are increasingly indebted, and that is your very own group. It has been both exciting and rewarding to find another discipline attacking the problems of the skin I have become increasingly aware of the mutual benefits which are accruing. I hope that, as the years pass, our scienti- fic liaison will prove even more productive. "My deepest thanks to all of you for naming me the recipient of the 1955 Special Award. I shall always treasure the memories of this wonder- ful day."
