The average clinical score of skin gloss in the sample area was significantly increased by 17.39% (p 0.05). After 28 days of treatment with the same sunscreen cream, skin treated with the yeast essence balance lotion with SRFF has shown significant improvement in brightness, whiteness, and gloss. SUBJECTS’ SELF-ASSESSMENT After using the sample for 7 days, satisfaction of the subjects was recorded (Table II). Up to 76% of subjects reported relieved skin redness, relieved skin sensitivity, and strengthened adaptability to external environment after applying. After applying for 7 days, 88% of subjects reported calmed and soothed skin. DISCUSSION The SRFF, even in as low a concentration as 12.5 µg/mL, has shown similar promotion of claudin-1, claudin-4, and occludin expression as a high concentration of Ca2+ (3 mmol/L). TJs (such as claudin-1, claudin-4, and occludin) provide mechanical cohesion between epidermal cells and aid in maintaining proper barrier function by preventing the loss of water, electrolytes, and proteins. Thus, increases in expression of TJs after being cultured with SRFFare indicative of an enhancement in skin barrier function. Environmental conditions such as solar UV radiation have shown to disrupt skin barrier integrity by increasing TEWL and skin redness.
