leisure, recreation, fitness, self-confidence, personal pleasure, and vitality. Questionnaire-
based QoL type instruments have demonstrated that subjects with sensitive skin score worse
in satisfaction with appearance, daily life, and sense of well-being. Subjects with SSS had
significantly worse scores for sleep disorders compared to subjects without sensitive skin.
Becoming aware of both the vicious cycle of biopsychosocial impacts and how it can impact
individuals with SSS can help both the practitioner and consumer to understand, manage,
and develop more appropriate approaches and programs (i.e., treatments, therapies, and so
forth) to drive a more holistic and sustainable QoL impact for SSS consumers. We reiterate
the call to consider SSS as an integrative multiphenomena condition to not only drive more
holistic understanding of the syndrome, but also continue to pursue solutions (i.e., skin
ingredients/products) that would inclusively and collectively impact skin/body/mind state
of SSS sufferers.66
